About Us
Construction wasn’t the career Jim Hutcheson had planned on. He worked in construction while pursuing his college degree, but after graduation, he moved on to the business world. But it wasn’t long before he realized that he loved working with his hands and with people, helping them turn their ideas into reality—and he missed it. So, in 2001, he made it official, opening the doors of his first general contracting company. Since then, he has gained a wealth of experience in all areas of construction and began specializing in commercial projects, working with a variety of clients, including retail, franchises, offices, non-profits, churches, and small businesses.
Although he enjoys being a general contractor, Jim has been disappointed with the less than positive reputation of the profession, so he and his wife, Melissa, resolved to build a business that was committed to making that reputation a thing of the past. 90 Degree Construction is the result of that commitment.
Ultimately, their vision for 90 Degree was to put the trust back into commercial contracting by combining small-town values with high-quality craftsmanship. They wanted their clients, who have too much on their plates already, to feel confident that their project would be handled so they could focus on their business. They built 90 Degree on honesty, integrity, and professionalism. But it takes more than that to be successful in an industry that demands attention to detail, budget, and timeline. Jim and his team have built processes that ensure every aspect of a project is carefully and thoroughly planned, documented, and executed—from the detailed project plan with cost estimates to the final punch list and walk-through—with constant communication from start to finish.
