Behind the Scenes: Photos and Stories of Recent 90 Degree Projects

As we mentioned in our last blog post, 90 Degree Construction has been working on some exciting projects this year. From sporting goods stores, to fashion boutiques and learning centers, we’ve worked on some big projects! Here are the two projects we’ve tackled in 2013.Project: Lizard ThicketLocation: The Forum in NorcrossWhen we first sat down for a consultation with Lizard Thicket’s owner, the future site of this fashionable boutique was an old New Balance store consisting of 2 restrooms, a storage area, a large wall spanning the width of the space and old displays.90-1Borrowing from our expertise with municipalities, we were able to quickly put together a timeline and project plan. The new space would include: a retail showroom, 8 fitting rooms, an office, stockroom, 2 restrooms, and an employee break room with a kitchen. With a tight deadline and a considerable to-do list, we set out to build a chic and functional space that would reflect positively upon their brand. We also installed numerous specialty finishes along the way, including stained concrete floors, exposed ceiling spiral duct work, faux finish painted walls, cultured stone wall detailing, custom trim work, custom built displays, beadboard dressing/fitting rooms and custom made lighting fixtures.90-2As this was our second Lizard Thicket build out, we found ourselves in a productive and positive groove. Our familiarity with the shop’s style and specs, as well as the strong partnership with the franchise’s architects, resulted in a smooth process from start to finish. We were easily able to meet the 7 week project deadline and Lizard Thicket opened its doors to a successful grand opening several weeks later.90-3Project: Serious TennisLocation: Toco Hill Shopping Center in Decatur, GeorgiaThe future site of Serious Tennis was a 40+ year old store in the Toco Hill Shopping Center. The goal for this site was twofold – build out a tennis store and bring the overall space up to code. Tasked with the challenge of transforming an older space into a retail showroom with 2 restrooms, 2 fitting rooms, and a storage area, 90 Degree Construction started demo work right away.90-4While the team did encounter a few bumps along the way, we were able to draw from our prior experience with Dekalb County and Toco Hill when faced with a challenge. Since 2009, 90 Degree Construction has completed 4 Toco Hill build outs – Learning Express Toys, Sips N Strokes, Roost Gifts and Eye Level Learning Center. Our familiarity with structural issues, property managers and security played a big factor in the success of this build out.90-590 Degree Construction successfully completed this project in June and Serious Tennis opened a short time later. We are happy to report that the store is doing very well in its new location.90-6To see our other 2013 projects as well as previous work, like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.
